Vargon Foundation exists to develop and deliver leadership, behavioral engagement, and decision-making training in support of youth, families, and community organizations in the District of Columbia. We build the kind of capacity that lasts beyond any single training: the judgment, the relationships, and the habits that allow people and institutions to make better choices over time.
We are organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and our work is grounded in the conviction that the strongest communities are the ones whose members have the skills to lead, decide, and engage with confidence.
Momodu "Coach G" Gondo founded Vargon Foundation to formalize and expand the community-focused work he has carried out across the District for years. A former Baltimore City Police detective who later worked in pediatric care at Johns Hopkins, Coach G brings grounded, real-world experience with accountability, performance under pressure, and decision-making in high-stakes settings.
His recent work includes leadership and structured decision-making sessions for students in the Prince George's County Public Schools Non-Traditional Program, where school leadership invited him back for expanded school-wide programming, and public speaking on community leadership and accountability. He is the principal of Vargon Consulting Group, LLC, a DC consulting firm, and the founder of Love Lead Inspire Inc. The Foundation reflects his commitment to making this work sustainable, accessible, and accountable to the populations it serves.
Vargon Foundation is governed by a board of directors committed to the Foundation's mission and to the standards of independence and accountability that define a well-run nonprofit. Under the Foundation's bylaws, a majority of directors must be independent: they receive no compensation from the Foundation and have no financial relationship with the founder or with Vargon Consulting Group, LLC.
The initial board has three members, led by Momodu Gondo as President and Executive Director. The Foundation intends to expand the board following IRS recognition to add directors with experience in nonprofit governance, community programs, finance, and the populations the Foundation serves.
Vargon Foundation is a District of Columbia nonprofit corporation, organized exclusively for purposes described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Foundation operates independently of any for-profit entity, with its own board, its own finances, and its own programs.
Vargon Foundation maintains an arm's-length relationship with Vargon Consulting Group, LLC, a separate for-profit consulting firm owned by the Foundation's founder. The two organizations are distinct legal entities with separate governance, separate bank accounts and books, and separate operations. Any transaction between them is approved in advance by the Foundation's independent directors, with the founder recused, under a written conflict-of-interest policy consistent with IRS guidance.
